Blockbuster offer could make Nigerian star one of football’s highest earners

LAGOS — Nigerian international Victor Osimhen is once again at the centre of a major transfer saga as Saudi Arabian powerhouse, Al-Hilal, tables an eye-watering offer to lure the Napoli striker away from Europe.
According to Italian daily Corriere dello Sport, Al-Hilal has proposed a staggering €160 million deal spread across three years, with an optional fourth. The breakdown reveals a jaw-dropping annual salary of €40 million — a figure that would catapult Osimhen into the ranks of the world’s highest-paid footballers.
Napoli, keen to offload the Super Eagles talisman to support a summer squad rebuild and reduce its wage bill, has reportedly shown willingness to sell — but only if his €75 million foreign release clause is activated. In such a scenario, negotiations would be bypassed entirely.
Osimhen, who had previously rejected a similar approach from the Saudi giants, is now believed to be reconsidering his stance as Al-Hilal renews its interest with an even more lucrative package.
Meanwhile, Turkish champions Galatasaray, who claim to have reached a provisional agreement with Napoli, are growing increasingly frustrated by the delays. The Istanbul club’s summer transfer plans hinge on whether the Nigerian striker decides to remain in Europe or take the Middle East route.
Back home in Nigeria, Osimhen has kept fans and media guessing. When asked about his future during a recent interview with a YouTube channel, the 25-year-old remained tight-lipped, saying, “At the moment I am focused on the holidays, I am resting. We will see what happens.”
He also made a public appearance during a charity football match in Lagos, organised by fellow Super Eagles star William Troost-Ekong, but avoided making any further comments about his next move.
For now, the football world watches and waits. Should Osimhen accept Al-Hilal’s proposal, it would mark one of the biggest African transfers in history — and a seismic shift in the striker’s career trajectory.
