The least of many positive stories of the 2024 Christmas Celebration is yet to be unraveled, particularly as it concerns the needy and downtrodden families.
As a result of this, Dumebi Chidiebere Obodo, KSJI, came to the aid of families who were wondering where and how the rice and chicken to mark the Christmas Day Celebration and the New Year would come from due to the harsh economy of the country, when he generously distributed bags of rice and other condiments to countless families to put smiles on their faces and promote the spirit of Christmas, which entails love, sharing, and extending other aids to the needy and less- privileged persons.
Mrs. Helen Okenesi, a recipient of the palliatives and widow from Umuahii Obudi Agwa, Oguta LGA, Imo State, who spoke to the Inside Agwa News correspondent on behalf of the women, prayed that God will always protect Dumebi and his family and continue to remember the widows and the indigent persons.
Helen noted that 2024 has been an unforgettable year for most people on the fringe of life, adding that It was a year one would not tell when and where the next meal would come from, insisting that to Agwa people, it was a year of tears, anguish, and untold grief, pain, and trauma in many families due to the crisis, as he thanked God for these gestures, while they survived the gun years.
She showered blessings on Chidumebi, their son, informing that God has used him to remember her and other families, even as she prayed that the year 2024 never come into her life again until God calls her home.
“What did I not see, or what did Umuahii and Agwa not see? My son, it was a year of tears, losses, and trauma amongst families in Umuahii, how many persons were killed? What was their crime? Are Chukwuma, Ugonna, and Chiemela criminals or cultists? How about Chima and Ekene?”
“We spent days in bushes hiding for fear of being killed. We abandoned our farms. And today, hunger is dealing with us because we are farmers and could not farm in these two years of deadly crisis. Agwa is known as the food hub of Imo State.”.
“Every day tells a story of yet another death and trauma as so many have lost their legitimate sources of income and their houses and are living as if there is no hope again. These food items you donated to families would go a long way in their lives. May you never lack, my son, Dumebi. May God bless your sources of income”, she said.
