Community development is a collective effort to bring every member on board to contribute its quota in any way possible. This is not limited to leadership at the local level but in every strata of life. Since a government is a continuum and a vacuum in the human order creates aberration.
The Obudi Development Union (ODU) Owerri Branch, Imo State, on Sunday, 12 May 2024, conducts elections into various offices. The elections which were held at the Government

Development College, Owerri, Imo State, had a former Commissioner for Justice and Attorney-General of Imo State, Barr. M. Onukaogu Nlemedim as the star dignitary.

Like every election is an opportunity to birth a new era and inject fresh ideas into the organization, the ODU Owerri Branch elections were not short of these imperative objectives, hence it was conducted in the letters and spirit of the constitution that established the union.

The returning officer, Barr. M. Onukaogu Nlemedim, assisted by Mr. Churchill Nwankwo, returned the following officers elected:

  1. Mr. Ndubuzor M. Ibeawuchi, Chairman.
  2. Mr. Chinenye G. Arugbu, Vice-Chairman.
  3. Mr. Moses Nwanoro, Secretary.
  4. Mr. Kelechi Esomibe, Assistant Secretary.
  5. Mr. Stanislaus Mgbugba, Treasurer.
  6. Mr. Theodore Iromaka, Financial Secretary.
  7. Mr. Samuel Nwankwo, Auditor.
  8. Mr. Mgbojiso Iwunze, P. R. O.
    Administering the oath of office to the elected officers, Barr. Nlemedim charged to do their best to move the union forward better than they met it, be law-abiding, obey the ODU constitution, and serve Obudi and Agwa at large.
    Delivering an acceptance speech, the Chairman, Mr. Ndubuzor M. Ibeawuchi, thanked the union for giving him the chance to lead them.

“I have been a member of ODU for years and have served in different positions in ODU including PRO, Vice-Chairman as well as headed a couple of Ad Hoc Committees.

“I promised to bring my experience on board to move the union forward, reconcile issues, drive membership campaigns, and lead according to the constitution of ODU in other to bring back the glory days of ODU. Thank you all”.

Other people who witnessed the elections had the immediate past chairman, Mr. Reginald Obodo, Dr. Lasbrey Akunya, Senior Lecturer, Alvan Federal College of Education, Owerri, Hon. Boniface Esomonu, former Obudi-Aro Ward, Mr. Stanley Iromaka, former Chairman, ODU, and a staff of the Imo State University, Benneth Anumudu, amongst others.
