The people of Umuele, a gateway village to Izombe clan were seen yesterday being 28th June, 2024 to be wearing happy and joyful faces as the Federal Commissioner representing Imo State in the Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC Board, Hon Kyrian Chidiebere Uchegbu led the Commission to flag off the Operation Light Up Niger Delta in Umuele and its environ at Obeabor autonomous community, Izombe Clan.
It is evidently clear that Hon Kyrian Chidiebere Uchegbu style of leadership is known to be something which is not premised on “I will attract, I will build this, I will do this or that but I DEY PLAY, E DEY SHOW.This is because our people are tired of hearing of our representatives unfulfilled promises. What they are interested is show all working. Come with what you have.This is why, Hon Kyrian Uchegbu seldom talks but works his actions.He did it before at that community, he has come to do it again, hence is the reason for the gathering yesterday at Umuele village square.According to the NDDC’s projects Engineer, Pastor Stephen Nwosu, a son of the soil and one who played enormous role in attracting the project to his town, had in his address confirmed the number of the lightening stands to be 229 as well itemized on how and where the solar lightening stands will be situated in accordance with the commission stipulations.
The State Director of the commission in Imo State, Sir Kelechi Nwelue implored the community to guide the project jealously inorder to merit more projects from the commission.On the other hand, the competent and capacity Federal Commissioner, Hon Uchegbu who also happens to be an indigene of Izombe clan assured the people of Izombe and the rest of communities in Imo State, especially those from Oil Producing areas that this project will be one after the other touches down in every nook and cranny of their community, but maintained that everything is premised on patience and collective security of public property.
The Federal commissioner equally stated that beyond the Solar Street Light, Izombe will be greeted with other essential infrastructural amenities that will transform the face of the clan into a modern town of 21st century.Remember that the Federal commissioner in working his talks had before now, illuminated the exit village, Umuorji Izombe if one is entering the town from Ogbaku. The Federal commissioner stated that, that should be a form of moral booster to those communities whom we’re yet to Kickstart this project in their respective areas that theirs is around the corner. Hon Dr Kyrian Uchegbu also leveraged the opportunity to sue for peace in Izombe.
According to him, peace remains the bedrock for more projects that will enhance social and economic development.The highlight of the occasion was the official handover of the project to the contractor and the group photograph of the commission, Izombe clan and the project contractor.
