- Offer A Scholarship To One Of Her Daughters
In a show of support and love, the Member Representing the Ohaji-Egbema/Oguta/Oru-West Federal Constituency, Rt. Hon. Engr. Eugene Okechukwu Dibiagwu (Ozurigbo), commiserates with Mr Anthony Uzoma (Sir Jackie Moore) over the death of her better half and great disciple of Hon. Dibiagwu, the late Princess Emelda Ozioma Uzoma (Nee Ukatta-Okorie), at Obudi, Agwa Autonomous Community in Oguta Local Government Area, Imo State, on Saturday, 17th of May, 2025.
The Founder and Convener of the “Imo Progressive Movement” (IMP) was unavoidably absent due to a national assignment in Abuja but was ably represented officially at the burial by the former Coordinator of Agwa Development Centre, Hon. Obinna Jumbo, affectionately called “Akasambo”.
According to a press statement made available to Inside Agwa News, Dibiagwu, in his commiseration message through Hon. Obinna Jumbo, condoled with the husband, family members, the people of Obudi Community, Agwa, and Oguta LGA at large for the late Princess Emelda Ozioma Uzoma for the monumental loss.
He praised the rare virtues of the late Princess Emelda as being a loyal servant, proactive in character, courageous, honest, and a trusted ally for years.
“It is with a heavy heart and deep respect for the values and regard I have with the person of the late Prince Emelda Ozioma Uzoma (nee Ukatta-Okorie), the beloved husband, the Uzoma families, the people and leadership of Obudi, Agwa Autonomous Community, the Agwa Clan, and Oguta Local Government Area, Imo State that I convey my deepest condolences to you all.
The late Princess Emelda Ozioma Uzoma, while alive, was one of my ardent supporters. She was committed to my course and gave her best not only to the success of my political career but also in support of the APC Government, under the watch of our God-sent Governor, Distinguished Senator Hope Uzodimma, CON, GSSRS, the Executive Governor of Imo State and the Chairman of the APC Governor’s Forum who doubles as the Southeast APC Governor’s Forum as well.
“Princess Ozioma was an epitome of strength, courage, and service to the Imo Progressive Movement (IMP) in Oguta and Dibiagwu’s Alliance Support Structures across the Federal Constituency. She was a very responsive and responsible woman, dedicated to every course she was assigned to carry out.
To such a beautiful soul, my absence in this burial was one that comes with a bigger task in the service of nation-building and bringing the dividends of democracy which I pledged to the good people of Ohaji-Egbema/Oguta/Oru-West Federal Constituency, Federal Republic of Nigeria, during my elections.
“It is for the reason of my unavailability that I detailed Hon. Obinna Jumbo to represent me in this burial to comfort the bereaved families and celebrate the stellar legacies of the late Princess Emelda Ozioma Uzoma.
Consequent upon this and to properly reward her support for a better society and the Federal Constituency we are building, I, therefore, on behalf of myself and my political family, offer one of her daughters a scholarship to pursue her education from the present level into any higher institutions of her choice in Nigeria.
“By this act, the worthy memories and contributions of our dear beloved princess and her mother would be appreciated and celebrated.” He said.
Speaking also at the burial, Hon. William Chinedu Okenesi, the Supervisory Councillor for Education in the Oguta Local Government Area, Imo State, who represented Bishop (Dr) G.U. Nwaeze, a two-term former Executive Chairman of Oguta, and the Apex Leader of the All Progressive Congress (APC), Oguta from Obudi/Aro Ward, addressed the character personage of late Princess Emelda Ozioma Uzoma in glowing and characteristic terms.
Hon. Omemma, as he is fondly called by admirers, described the demise of Ozioma as a colossal loss to the family and Obudi Autonomous Community in particular because of her heart to serve the people.
“I am Hon. Williams Chinedu Okenesi, Supervisory Councillor for Education, Oguta LGA, Imo State. I am here in a dual capacity, first, to represent the Apex Leader of Oguta APC, who hails from the community, Bishop (Dr) G. U. Nwaeze, and my office.
The death of Ozioma was a rude shock to all of us, especially the political class. It was the least expected, and up to now, I am still in shock, like so many of you!
“The late Princess Emelda Ozioma Uzoma was an agile woman, very coordinated and politically intelligent. She represents a body of political “good conscience” amongst the women’s folds.
I recall during the crisis, she was a rallying point and never found wanting in any assignments given to her politically. Indeed, Obudi has lost a big political woman bulldozer and a mobilizer to the core.
“Ozioma’s death has left a big vacuum to be filled, and I pray God to help the family and the community to bear this irreparable loss,” Okenesi remarked.
The entire family of the late Eze Ukatta, who were devastated by the sudden flight, spoke about the life and times of Princess Emelda Ozioma Uzoma through Mr Lucky Ukatta-Okorie.
Omerigbo remarks that the late princess was a princess to the core. Upholding the qualities of what a princess should be called – motherhood, hard work, courage, outspokenness, meekness, supportive families and community, and empathy.
“The woman we gathered today to bury was my immediate younger sister. She was very loved by us, and she spoke truth to power without fear or favor. Politically, she was not a missing character but a name that rang bells within the political corridors of the constituency and federal constituency.
“Being an unrepentant supporter of Hon. Eugene Dibiagwu, the Federal House of Representative Member of this very constituency, Rt. Hon. Dibiagwu knows her in person, character, and action.
She always plays active roles in IPM and Dibiagwu’s Alliance Support Structures as well as availing her support to other political actors in the APC.
In the Community, the late Princess Emelda Ozioma was a symbol of peace with a strong impulse of sane counsel and sanity. Ozioma was always ready to share the little she had with her next neighbors and did not begrudge anyone.
“Unfortunately, we lost her in this circumstance, but we are consoled by the good legacies she kept during these years. May God accept her soul. He heavily quips.
Mr. Anthony Uzoma (Sir Jack), the widower, in his short but deep-meaning and emotional testimonies, described the late wife, Princess Emelda Ozioma Uzoma, as a “pillar of support,” the “joy of his heart,” and a “treasure.”
“Yes, so many people may be mourning the death of my wife, an uncommon gift of God to me, but I am celebrating her worthy legacies.
My late wife loved me to a fault, to the extent that some of her fellow women who tried to corrupt her heart were roundly ignored.
“Her shocking passage on that black evening wrecked my life, but I cannot question God. He created her and has taken her home. May God grant her immaculate heart and soul eternal rest,” he concludes.
To the First Son, “My mom was everything to me in this world.
She was my best friend, adviser, and mother like no other.
Her death was like a Nollywood movie to me. Indeed, I have lost a mother, a friend, a confidant, and a counselor. “May God grant her soul good rest,” he said.
Members of Hon. Dibiagwu’s women’s wing, IPM, and the Alliance Support Structures, were fully in attendance and attested to the progressive and collective spirit of the late Princess Emelda Ozioma Uzoma.
They commended her punctuality to activities, her lifting and lightening up presence in any of her programs, and above all, her vocal but modest nature.
Contributing meaningfully to the agenda and progress of the association in meetings.
The burial, which attracted people from across the states in Nigeria, with members of the serving and past political office holders in attendance, was proof of the brief but impactful life of the late Princess Emelda Ozioma Uzoma to the people she met and related with.
Such names were representative of the Executive Chairman of Oguta LGA, Hon. Ifeanyi Nnani, Comr. Orum Desmond Ugonna, the Chief Press Secretary to the Chairman and a disciple of Rt. Hon. Eugene Okechukwu Dibiagwu, Hon. Amanze Obi, P.h.D., Former Commissioner For Information and Strategy during the Administration of the Former Governor of Imo State, Chief Ikedi Ohakim, and Director-General of Ahiajoku Institute, The Regent of Obudi Agwa Autonomous Community, Prince Malachi Asor, Mr. Stone Iyala, P.h.D., Lecturer, Imo State University, Mr. Godday Chikwe, P.h.D., Interim Chairman, Agwa Central Union (ACU), Enugu State, Mr. Marcel Alozie, Daily Sun Newspaper, Southeast Business Development, who led the members of Onurube Family to the burial as Chairman, Hon. Hillary Eberendu, Former Interim Management Committee Chairman of Oguta.
Other dignitaries include Chief Vitalis Chimezie Ekeh, Former President-General of Obudi; Hon. Ugo Aguocha, Former Councillor; Mr. Williams Akada; Engr. Sammy Black; Chief (Mrs.) Ukah, Omeudo 1 of Obudi; Lady Lolo Virginia Obodo; and Mr. J. K. J. Asor, amongst others.
Recall that on the 8th of April, 2025, a deadly thunderstorm struck at the Uzi Tree Obudi, Agwa, at the peak of the cassava harvesting day known as Orie Akpunkoro Market at Obudi.
The thunder strike killed the late Princess Emelda Ozioma Uzoma instantly alongside a woman from Obuokwu, Obudi Agwa, who was selling and buying cassava under the big tree and left so many people injured.
