In a bid to rejuvenate the local leadership structure and appraise their performance, the leadership of the Fresh Air Movement, Imo State started her Local. Government Area Tour last week Friday, the 16th of May, 2025.
The Tour Theme:” Strategic Grassroots Mobilisation and Sensitization in Support of the Good Governance of the Distinguished Senator Hope Uzodimma, the Executive Governor of Imo State”,
was led by the Director-General of the Fresh Air Movement, Hon. John Mbonu Uchenwoke-Ekperechi, to Nguru Ngor Okpala LGA, Imo State, where they were warmly received by the leadership of the Ngor Okpala executive under the watchful eyes of Mr. Kelechi Akujobi, the LGA Coordinator amidst other members of his executives.
The meeting commenced with the official presentation of kola nuts by the LGA Coordinator, Mr. Kelechi Akujobi, to the State Director-General. The State DG, in turn, presented the kola nuts to the members of the State Executives who traveled with him to Ngor Okpala and returned it back to the Coordinator as tradition demands, after which the kola nuts were prayed for by the LGA Secretary, Comr. Bright Nnodim.
Mr. Kelechi Akujobi, the LGA Coordinator, in his welcoming address, appreciates the leadership of Fresh Air Movement for their responsive coordination of the movement. He also applauds the founder and president of Fresh Air Movement, Imo State Hon. Chief (Dr.) James Uba Esile, for his trademark representation of godliness and humanity.
The coordinator did not waste time singing praises of the governor of Imo State, Distinguished Senator Hope Uzodimma, for repositioning Imo State into a competitive State unlike we used to have before. He praised the infrastructural sagacity and doggedness of the governor, noting that no State will progress without having the basic infrastructural architectures that will sustain other developmental drives.
In his words, “I want to thank my leaders for coming, especially choosing Ngor Okpala LGA as the first to host this tour. You know, when I got a call from the State DG that we are premiering this tour, I saw it as a big privilege. There and then, I called my executive and we moved to work.
Ngor Okpala LGA Fresh Air Movement is intact. We are solidly behind our performing governor, the Distinguished Senator Hope Uzodimma CON, GSSRS, who has come to salvage the State from the dungeon of cyclical poor governance. Today, every part of Imo State is feeling the impact of his government positively in one way or the other.
“On the other hand, our principal, the Founder and President of Fresh Air Movement, Imo State, Hon. Chief James Uba Esile, we, the Ngor Okpala LGA Fresh Air Movement, are proud of your activities in bringing quality representation to the people of Onuimo as their House of Assembly Member, as well as using the movement to reach out to the people of Imo State in your little ways. You shall get to the zenith of your political pursuit”, he said.
Addressing the people at the Atlantic Spot, Nguru, Ngor/Okpala LGA, the Director-General of Fresh Air, Hon. John Mbonu Uchenwoke-Ekperechi, thanked the LGA coordinator for working round the clock to ensure that the gathering took place and other members of his executives.
Uchenwoke seized the opportunity to shower praises on the governor of the State, Distinguished Senator Hope Uzodimma. Creating an enabling environment of peace to have this program and other sociopolitical and socioeconomic activities that are taking place in the State without interruption of any kind.
The DG maintained that it would have been impossible for Imo State to have this level of environmental sanity, sociopolitical calmness, and infrastructural presence without a character like Governor Hope Uzodimma, considering the level of violence that greeted the State immediately after he was sworn in as the Governor of the State.
He also contends that Hon. James Uba Esile, the President of Fresh Air Movement, is being inspired by the governor to help do the good works he is doing to his constituents as their representative at the Imo State House of Assembly and Imo State at large.
“Today, the people of Ngor/Okpala are hosting the first tour of Fresh Movement Imo State, tagged:” Strategic Grassroots Mobilisation and Sensitization in Support of the Good Governance of the Distinguished Senator Hope Uzodimma, the Executive Governor of Imo State”, we thank you for taking that challenge and Welcoming us in your midst.
Before I proceed to the meat of our visit today, I would like to reeducate us once again about the values Fresh Air Movement represents.
“It is a sociopolitical grassroots-based movement to reach out to the poor masses in rural areas. She does this via programs like empowerment in education, payment of health bills, skill acquisition, granting of non-refundable business loans, and granting of scholarships to deserving indigent children.
Fresh Air Movement volunteers for community service in our various communities and LGA to promote a good environment and healthy co-existence.
In addition to that, the Fresh Air Movement is a vanguard of support to the government of Imo State.
“It propagates the policies of the government to the people at the grassroots who may be limited in getting information or in the knowledge of the government. It also helps to mobilize for civic engagements, canvass support to the government, and, above all, support the program of its members, amongst others.
“You know that our Governor has been doing wonderfully well for the State, so today, we are here to tell you about the latest development of his government, which is aimed at benefiting Imolites.
First is the “Health Insurance Enrollment Scheme”. This program is expected to take care of the health needs of Imolites who are enrolled in all the 27 LGAs.
“It is a program that would ensure that all Primary Health Care Centers in the State are equipped with quality drugs and other health facilities for the people of Imo State to benefit from, particularly the rural communities,s, which are our major constituencies.
To support the Health Enrollment Scheme Program, Hon. Chief James Uba Esile, in his humble and service-driven nature, donated the sum of 3# million naira to the Onuimo people.
“Second, the Governor in his wisdom, wants to further advance the security of the State. This is in addition to his commitment to the protection of lives and properties of the State; he announced the formation of 15-man local vigilante groups in all the Autonomous communities in the State to be managed and funded by the State Government.
Third, we want to thank you for all your efforts in supporting the program and progress of the Fresh Air Movement, from the re-election campaigns and voting of the governor to the 2024 Local Government Area and Council Elections. Thank you all.
“As a movement, we encourage you all to continue building Fresh and supporting the governor and government of Imo State”, Uchenwoke, remarked.
