Commends Uzodimma, Urges Continued Support for Tinubu’s Government
Okigwe, Imo State – In a show of unity and spiritual solidarity, Hon. Dr. James Uba Esile, the Honourable Member representing Onuimo State Constituency in the Imo State House of Assembly, led a delegation of lawmakers to the 6th Synod Lecture Series of the Anglican Diocese of Okigwe, where he delivered a keynote address urging national unity, moral reawakening, and continued public support for government at all levels.
The lecture, held at the Synod of the Anglican Church, Diocese of Okigwe, at the All Saints Anglican Church Okwelle Onuimo, on June 28th, 2025; witnessed the presence of notable state legislators, including Hon. Kelechi Ofurum, the Majority Chief Whip of the House and representative of Owerri-North State Constituency; Hon. Dr. Agbasonu of Ezinihitte Mbaise; and Hon. (Barr.) Modestus Abiazie Osakwe of Isu State Constituency.
In his address, Hon. Dr. Esile reaffirmed his deep Anglican roots and emphasized the role of the church in nation-building. “I am an Anglican from birth. Whatever I do today is grounded in the strong moral principles instilled in me by my late parents. Their legacy continues to guide my steps,” he stated.
He stressed the importance of godly parenting, family values, and community involvement as essential tools in raising responsible future leaders. “This is why we must emphasize godly parenting and communal responsibility in shaping a generation that contributes positively to social development and national peace,” he said.
Hon. Esile charged the church to continue occupying its rightful spiritual and prophetic place in society by holding political leaders accountable and promoting unity and peace. “The church must remain a voice of moral reasoning, reminding the political class of their duty as servants of the people,” he noted.
While acknowledging that some political leaders are performing well, the lawmaker maintained that much more needs to be done. He urged leaders across the country to adopt people-oriented policies rather than pursuing self-interest.
Esile also called on parents to take pride in raising children who are patriotic, respectful of authority, and committed to community development. He emphasized that supporting the government is both a moral and biblical obligation, urging citizens to be patient with reform policies that require time to yield meaningful results.
The Onuimo legislator commended the Bishop of the Diocese, the Rt. Rev’d Dr. John Chigozie Sunday Obinali, and the Central Planning Committee of the Synod Lecture for their outstanding commitment to the spiritual and structural growth of the church.
He extended gratitude to his fellow lawmakers for their presence and solidarity, praising their contributions to the event. Additionally, he expressed appreciation to the leadership of the Fresh Movement Imo State, led by Hon. John Mbonu Uchenwoke-Ekperechi, as well as to traditional rulers and the people of Onuimo Constituency for their unwavering support.
Hon. Esile concluded by calling on stakeholders in Okigwe Zone to intensify their support for the establishment and operational commencement of the proposed Okigwe Federal University, a project he described as vital to the educational and economic advancement of the region.
The event was well-attended by clergy, laity, political leaders, and community stakeholders, reflecting a fusion of faith and public service geared toward moral leadership and national development.
