The Eminent Club of Lagos, Nigeria, is set to open a fresh page as Mr. Teacher Nnamdi Al is set to hand over the baton of leadership to a newly elected executive led by Mr. Maurice Anumaka, popularly called “Chumikite, as the Chairman.

According to the official press release available to the journalists, the handover ceremony was done virtually on Sunday, the 2nd of February, 2025.

Mr. Teacher, the outgoing chairman, thanked the members for their support throughout his tenure in the office and urged them to show greater support to the new leadership.

He noted, though, that there were a few challenges, but his team was able to scale through due to the massive support he enjoyed from the members.

“We are happy today to start this new page in the history of Eminent Club. This club was founded in November 2002 with Mr. Godday Anumaka, affectionately called “Atata,1,” as the pioneer chairman and Mr. Agu Vitalis, secretary-general, to help each other, foster brotherhood, and promote peace, love, and unity among the Agwa people in Lagos and beyond.

My executive and I have shown commitment to keeping to the doctrine and spirit of the club by leaving office according to the constitutional provisions and conducting a free, fair, and credible election, which ushered in a new administration.

“Please, if you love this club and you want it to continue to exist, give greater support, financially and otherwise, to this new government,” he said.

The outgoing chairman expressed maximum confidence in the new leadership due to the caliber of men that were elected to lead, especially the chairman, Mr. Maurice Anumaka, and others.

“You all know the quality of people that have taken over the mantle of this great club—that they are worthy people who have shown support to the previous administration, but it is important to stress that without our support, they will achieve nothing because no leader succeeds without the buy-in of the led,” he said.

The outgoing chairman uses the opportunity to express his utmost joy and satisfaction towards the members of the Board of Trustees of the club and Patron for their sacrifice and support.

“We are grateful to have Sir. John Emerenini, Nwawuba ( Fine Boy), and Chief Ignatius Agbahime (IG-World Bank) for their immeasurable support to this great club through their timely advice and directions. He, however, pleaded with them to continue to support the club and the new leadership,” he maintained.

The outgoing chairman, however, noted that the club has started on a good note by increasing the population of the association through the registration of Mr. Amuche Nkemjika from Ubah Autonomous.

He tasked the new leadership to do more on membership drives, as well as encouraging members to participate in the online meetings of the association

A handover speech presented by the immediate past Chairman of the Eminent Club of Lagos State, Nigeria, Mr. Nnamdi Alugburu, being Today, 1st of February, 2025.

“I want to start by thanking God Almighty for His love, wisdom, and knowledge given to every one of us to be alive today and the entire team of the immediate past executive led by my humble self, Mr. Nnamdi Alugburu popularly known as Teacher”.

He also expressed gratefulness for the smooth transition of power without rancor and the massive support of the members of the great club, particularly the Board of Trustees and Patrons, and prayed to God to bless them.

In his short speech, which went straight to the point, he said that the Eminent Club of Lagos, Nigeria, is an association created for social interaction amongst the people of Agwa to promote love, peace, progress, development, and unity among members.

According to him, It is also a vehicle for collective economic understanding as well as being their brothers’ keepers in good and bad times, adding that they have come of age and have done so well in preserving the ideals of the founding members of the club.

Without much ado, he sincerely informed me that he is very happy to have served out his tenure as the chairman of the club, which gave way for a new government to come in to continue from where the team had stopped.

Also during their administration, they strived to carry people along and shun any acts that would bring division among them

As the time for elections came, they gave themselves to conducting a free, credible, and democratic election to elect new executive members on the 12th of January, 2025.

They are as follows:

.Mr. Maurice Anumaka, Chairman, Modestus Chigbomkpa, Secretary-General,
Eze IG, Treasurer,
Financial Secretary, Ihetu Stanley,
Provost, Nze 1 Ndubuisi Sunday.

Their decision to do this was to keep the culture of ensuring smooth and transparent leadership through participatory periodic elections that are free of rancor.

He, therefore, charged the new executive to, at all times, live up to the expectation of their primary duties and endeavors so that governance and leadership were not mixed with emotions and dirty politics to the detriment of the association and all the members, to always support the new leadership the same way they supported himself, and remember that Eminent Club is not a political party but a platform of brotherhood.

At that juncture, he happily appreciated the support of the Board of Trustees members, like Sir. John Emerenini Nwawuba ( Fine Boy), as well as their Patron, Chief Ignatius Agbahime (IG World Bank), for their immense support of the association.

As a special appeal, he requested that members of the Board of Trustees and our Patron continue to support and play their advisory roles in moderating the activities of the club and always guide the new leadership to achieve greater things, but more especially, call to order whenever they are drifting from the ideals of the Eminent Club of Lagos.

Concluding, he appealed to the new leadership to continue to leverage technological tools like virtual meetings whenever the need arises for effective communication, as well as the members to equally join anytime it is broadcast.

He also thanked Eminent Club members for their support during his tenure, and I prayed for God’s continued protection, favor, and blessings in everything they do to earn a living.

According to him, he never forgets the entire executive team that worked with him such as:
Agu Vitalis, Secretary-General,
Financial Secretary, Chukwuma Agbahime,
Treasurer, Ihetu Stanley, and
Agabus Nwaoha.
