Ahead of the burial ceremony of one of the illustrious sons of the Agwa clan, Hon. (Sir) Boniface Ejiogu, the Coordinator of Agwa Central Vigilante Security, Prince Chidi Nwokocha, in collaboration with the Agwa Police Division, is putting a water-tight Security in place to ensure a hitch-free burial and the safety of people who shall be traveling from far and near for the burial ceremony.
Prince Chidi Nwokocha, popularly known as ‘Ezembi’, the President-General of Mgbala Agwa Autonomous Community, made this available to Inside Agwa News via a telephone conversation on Wednesday morning, May, 7, 2025, two days ahead of the burial.
Nwokeocha thanked the Governor of Imo State, Sen. Hope Uzodimma, for creating an enabling environment to host the burial in recognition of the services demised beloved statesman offered to the government of Imo State when he served as the first commissioner of Education in 1999 under His Excellency, Chief Achike Udenwa’s administration.
He also saluted the courage of the Executive Chairman of Oguta Local Government Area, Hon. Ifeanyi Nnani, and his team for the remedial work on the Agwa-Ejemekwuru Road, to ensure that the road is motorable for people to attend the burial, also considering the period when the road would be extremely bad if it were allowed to remain without any palliative work done on it.
The performing Agwa Central Security Villante coordinator, however, commended the efforts of the ACU for setting up the vigilante to help the officers and men of the Agwa Police in combating crime in Agwa.
In his words, Nwokeocha was quoted as saying, “As you can see, the days are fast approaching, when Sir. Boniface Ejiogu will be buried. It is a big event that ought to be approached with an amount of seriousness. In the areas of Security, I know that our Governor has made every necessary preparation to ensure that there will not be any security breach anywhere to cause disharmony and create unnecessary tension towards the safety of people who will be attending the burial and the people of Agwa at large”.
“As the coordinator of the Agwa Local Security outfit, we are not relenting in our complementary preparation. The late Sir. Ejiogu was our proud son and Imo State at large with a decent and humble family background, It is our duty to comb every nook and cranny of Agwa nation with my team to ensure we have a peaceful burial outcome”
According to him, intense security torches have been beamed in all our exit points and entrances, including the roads, starting from Wednesday to Friday, the 9th of May, 2025.
He further gave directives on how people are going to park their cars and Motorcycles on that day to avoid unpleasant reports.
“You know that the burial is going to be a State burial. So, Agwa is going to witness an influx of people coming and going this weekend.
What this means is that members of my teams are going to be strategically positioned to direct the arrangement of cars and motorcycle parking to the designated places to improve traffic flow.
“Car owners are advised to cooperate with the members of the local security team in parking their cars. To this effect, we have two designated locations for car owners to park their cars for proper security.
The first location is at St. Theresa’s Catholic Parish, Agwa, during the church funeral mass. The second location is at the Arochukwu’s playground. This is when the body will leave the Church for interment.
“We strongly encourage car owners to oblige the location security men to get this done to ensure the safety of their cars. Any car owner who failed to park his or her car in any of these designated locations is doing so at its peril”. Nwokeocha said.
Recall that the late Sir. Boniface Ejiogu, died earlier this year after being incapacitated by a prolonged illness. His remains shall be laid to rest in his hometown, Obudi, Agwa Oguta LGA, Imo State, on Friday, the 9th of May, 2025.
The Aro-born politician served as a Commissioner of Education in 1999 in the first four years of Chief Achike Udenwa’s government under the umbrella of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.
In the first cabinet reshuffling, the late Sir. Ejiogu was moved to Commence and Industry and later Public Utility. He belongs to the respected Knights of St. John International, amongst other professional and nonprofessional bodies.
