There was heavy traffic and vehicular movement on Sunday, 5th of January, 2025, in Agwa clan, as St. Michael’s and All Angels’ Church Obudi Agwa, Oguta LGA, Imo State, under the Church of Nigeria (Anglican Communion) Diocese on the Lake, celebrated her 100th anniversary.

The anniversary programme which was held under Rt. Rev. Chijioke B. N. Oti, PhD, the Bishop on the Lake; Mrs. Ijeoma P. Oti, M. A. JP, Mama on the Lake; and Ven. Kalu and Mrs. Onyekachi Mba, Archdeacon, Agwa, Archdeaconry was to thank God for his faithfulness and love upon the church.

The celebration witnessed so many awards by deserving individuals who have contributed towards the growth of the church and the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ in their own right.

Presenting the award to Prof. Humphrey Ugo, who was represented during the occasion by his elder brother, Elder Herbert Ugo, the Bishop on Lake, Rt. Rev. Chijioke B. N. Oti, PhD reads; “Diocese on The Lake, St. Michaels, and All Angels Church Obudi Agwa Hereby confer on you, Chief Prof. Humphrey Ugo, KSC, this honorable award as church revival partner in recognition of your consistent commitment and selfless contribution to the growth and development of the church of God and humanity.

“On this date, Sunday, 5th January 2025, during the century anniversary celebration of our church.Congratulations.Mr. Donatus Ihijirika, PCC, Secretary, Ven. Uchenna Kalu Mba, Vicar”.

Delivering his acceptance speech, Prof. Ugo appreciated the planning committee led by Sir. BC Uzoma and the entire congregation at St. Michael’s church for finding him worthy to be a recipient of the award.

Prof.Ugo noted that such an award coming from a church that was established in 1921, the first of its kind in Agwa, and has since then stood firm in the propagation of the gospel to the lost soul to come to Jesus, is indeed a sheer privilege that calls for more good works to the glory of God.

To support the anniversary, Prof. Ugo donated the sum of Two Hundred Thousand Naira (#200,000) for the development of the church. Chief Prof. Chukwuebuka Ugo, a Knight of St. Christopher, is a family health physician based in Melbourne, Australia, and he is the president of the Agwa in Diaspora Forum (ADF) Worldwide and patron of the Umuofeke Agwa General Assembly Worldwide, president of Ohaoma, and president of the Oguta Development Forum (OODF) Worldwide.

He is also the grand patron of the Umuofeke Peace Mission Initiative (2022-2024 grand patron), a partner with Inside Agwa News- Newspaper, a member of the Agwa Elders Forum, and a member of the Agwa Central Union, who has used these veritable positions to drive and advance the collective development of Agwa nation and environs despite his tasking profession as a medical doctor and a lecturer.
