NCAC’s Cultural Ambassador Sparks Economic Windfall as Festival Generates Over ₦2bn in Sponsorship, $10m Local Impact

The Director-General of the National Council for Arts and Culture (NCAC), Obi Asika, has hailed the unprecedented success of the 2025 Ojude Oba Festival, revealing that the cultural showcase, with the support of cultural ambassador Farooq Oreagba, attracted a historic ₦2 billion in corporate sponsorships.
Asika, writing via Instagram, shared insights from a conversation with Oreagba during the recent West Africa Economic Summit, praising his authenticity, deep cultural connection, and strategic leadership that drew major brands to the festival.
“He represents his culture, respects all of ours, and understands the business of culture and entertainment,” Asika said. “Thanks to his influence, Ojude Oba expanded massively this year, drawing nearly ₦2bn in sponsorship and inspiring other festivals nationwide.”
Oreagba, who captured national attention at the 2024 edition, described Ojude Oba 2025 as the “biggest ever,” with crowd numbers so large the festival structure had to be reconfigured. He credited his 2024 Airtel endorsement as the spark that ignited a corporate rush toward the event.
“Virtually every family got endorsed this year,” Oreagba said. “I had to redirect many deals that came to me to other participants – like Doyin Alatishe with Goldberg and Princess Adesile with Polo Avenue.”
He further estimated that the festival, combined with its associated equestrian displays, pulled in ₦2bn in sponsorships and boosted the Ijebu economy by another $10 million, citing CNN’s coverage.
“All hotels were booked. People had to lodge outside Ijebu Ode. Money was flowing,” he added.
Asika concluded by calling for enhanced production, branding, and logistics across Nigerian cultural festivals to ensure they remain impactful and self-sustaining.
“We salute the Awujale, Oba Adetona, Governor Dapo Abiodun, and the people of Ogun State. What’s happening is inspiring—and we hope it only gets bigger.”
Oreagba was named Honorary Cultural Ambassador in 2024 by the NCAC for his “vibrant spirit, cultural impact, and contribution to the Nigerian identity,” with Asika calling him “a true Nigerian original.”
