Hon. Dr. James Uba Esile to Deliver 6th Synodic Anglican Lecture on June 28th

The Member representing Onuimo State Constituency in the Imo State House of Assembly, Hon. Chief Dr. James Uba Esile, will deliver the 6th Synodic Anglican Lecture of the Diocese of Okigwe on Saturday, June 28, 2025, at the All Saints Anglican Church, Okwelle, Onuimo L.G.A., Imo State.
Hon. Esile, a respected lawmaker and founder of the Fresh Air Movement, expressed deep appreciation to the Rt. Rev’d John Chigozie Sunday Obinali P.h.D., the Bishop of the Okigwe Diocese, for the honor and opportunity to deliver the keynote lecture at this year’s Synod. He also extended his gratitude to the Central Organizing Committee for the invitation and coordination of the spiritual convocation.
In his remarks, Esile praised the Governor of Imo State, Distinguished Senator Hope Uzodimma, for providing a peaceful and conducive atmosphere in the state that allows for gatherings of such moral and spiritual significance.
Describing the Synod as “a time of deep spiritual reawakening”, Hon. Esile emphasized the critical need to reexamine the role of the Church in nation-building, peacebuilding, and as a conscience to political elites whose decisions greatly influence the economic and social direction of the country.
He appealed to parents to return to the drawing board in rebuilding strong family foundations, stating, “A healthy family is essential for raising children who will grow up to contribute positively to society and nation-building.”
Responding to questions from the press, Hon. Esile noted that the role of parents is directly linked to that of political leaders. He stated, “When we speak about political elites, we must also speak about the family unit. They are intertwined. You can’t build a nation without addressing the values in both.”
Ahead of his lecture titled “Dedication and Commitment: Core Concepts of Political Elites in Advancing God’s Kingdom and Societal Peace”, Dr. Esile stressed that any meaningful conversation about leadership must also include conversations about core family values and community structures.
On governance, the Chairman of the House Committee on Culture, Tourism, and Creative Arts, was emphatic in his praise of Governor Uzodimma’s administration. “It is on record that this government has performed beyond expectations. Imo State has not had it this good since 1999. Distinguished Senator Hope Uzodimma is unmatched in infrastructure, education, healthcare, security, and the welfare of pensioners and workers. From Okigwe to Owerri and Orlu, you will see governance at its peak,” he said.
Hon. Esile drew a parallel between Governor Uzodimma and the late Dr. Sam Mbakwe, noting that Uzodimma has revived the vision of inclusive development that had waned over the years.
A rising star in the 10th Imo Assembly, Dr. Esile is widely seen as a lawmaker with a human heart. Through youth-driven initiatives, bills, and motions, he has consistently championed causes aimed at empowering young people and repositioning them for economic independence.
