After months of bitter political tension that gripped Rivers State, a major breakthrough has been achieved as Governor Siminalayi Fubara and Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, have officially reconciled, putting an end to their prolonged feud.
The reconciliation came following a high-stakes meeting with President Bola Tinubu at the Presidential Villa on Thursday night, where both leaders — once allies turned rivals — pledged to unite for the progress of the oil-rich state.
Wike, speaking to journalists after the closed-door session, declared, “Peace has finally returned to Rivers State. We all agreed to work with the governor, and the governor agreed to work with all of us. We are members of the same political family.”
Acknowledging that political disagreements are normal, Wike emphasized that the past is now behind them. “Just like humans, we had disagreements, and now we’ve settled them. It’s over. There is no more acrimony,” he added.
Governor Fubara echoed the sentiment, calling the agreement a crucial step toward sustainable development. “What we need for Rivers State is peace, and by the special grace of God, peace has returned,” he said, assuring residents of his commitment to maintaining the new harmony.
