Owerri, June 23, 2025 — President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is scheduled to visit Imo State in August to commission a range of legacy projects initiated by Governor Hope Uzodimma, according to an official statement released on Monday.
Governor Uzodimma, speaking during an extensive inspection tour of project sites across Owerri despite heavy rainfall, expressed confidence that the ongoing developments would be ready for commissioning during the President’s visit.
Among the major projects nearing completion are the Imo International Conference Centre (now renamed in honour of Late Chief Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu), the newly renovated Government House Chapel, the transformed Assumpta Roundabout now featuring a multi-pronged flyover, the rebranded Concorde Hilton Hotel (formerly Concorde Hotel), and the Imo State Land Information Service Centre.
“The job is about 90 percent complete, meaning that by the end of next month or early August, it will coincide with the visit of Mr. President, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, who will be here to commission all the numerous projects we have achieved under his Renewed Hope Agenda,” Governor Uzodimma stated.
He further assured that the rainy season would not derail the timelines for completion, noting that current weather conditions remained favourable for construction.
A highlight of the inspection tour was the Land Information Service Centre, which the Governor described as a strategic initiative to end the persistent issues of land grabbing and irregular land transactions in Imo State.
Governor Uzodimma disclosed that the Centre was backed by legislation passed by the Imo State House of Assembly and assented to in 2021, mandating landowners to recertify and document land titles under a Geographic Information System (GIS) platform developed by the Centre.
“98 percent of land transactions in the State will now be processed online,” Uzodimma said. “This reform is aimed at promoting a modern, orderly society aligned with 21st-century governance standards.”
Accompanying the Governor on the inspection tour were the Chief of Staff, Barr. Nnamdi Anyaehie, and other members of the State Executive Council.
