
Owerri, June 23, 2025 — The leadership of the Joint National Association of Persons with Disabilities (JONAPWD), Imo State chapter, has expressed profound appreciation to Governor Hope Uzodimma for his continued support of persons with disabilities (PWDs), following a strategic interactive session with the Special Adviser to the Governor on Monitoring and Compliance, Hon. Nze Chinasa Nwaneri.
The engagement, which took place in Owerri on Monday, was described by attendees as “highly impactful” and focused on strengthening the inclusion agenda of the current administration.
During the meeting, members of JONAPWD highlighted several challenges confronting the disability community, especially issues relating to harassment by ENTRACO operatives within the transport sector. In a swift and commendable intervention, Hon. Nwaneri placed a direct call to relevant authorities, resulting in the immediate resolution of the complaints raised.
The group lauded Hon. Nwaneri for his accessibility, humility, and passionate advocacy for special citizens. They pledged to remain exemplary in conduct and continue supporting the vision of Governor Uzodimma’s administration.
Responding, Hon. Nwaneri reaffirmed the government’s commitment to disability inclusion and pledged to ensure full implementation of the Imo State Disability Law, recently signed by the Governor. He assured the community that enforcement mechanisms would be activated in collaboration with relevant agencies to safeguard the rights and welfare of PWDs.
The meeting concluded with renewed optimism, as stakeholders expressed hope that the Uzodimma-led government will deepen its inclusive governance model and uphold equal rights for all Imolites.
