The management of Inside Agwa News condoles with the families, friends, children, and relatives of the dastard and mindless attacks by unidentified killers that claimed lives.
IAN news sources gathered that the unfortunate development happened at Ubah yesterday and at Shiobi’s Bar Joint Okwuoha, Mgbala, and Agwa, respectively, being Tuesday, 28th of July, 2023, leaving late Mr. Chibuike Mbah from Okwuoha, Mgbala,and late Mr. Nneoma Nwabuisi from Ubah dead.
Mr. Promise Onwubu, one of the sons of late Christopher Onwubu, from Umuokijoro, Mgbala, had a gunshot wound to his stomach and is currently receiving medical treatment in an undisclosed hospital, amongst others who were severely injured by the sporadic bullets.
While we sympathise with the victims and families, we condemn in the strongest terms the wanton killings and zero value to human lives that have happened in Agwa in recent times that were not part of the history of the clan from Adam.
This is irrespective of concerted efforts by the state government, led by Distinguished Senator Hope Uzodimma, the Executive Governor of Imo State, Agwa Central Union (ACU), led by Barr. Benson Akunya, the Owerri Catholic Archdiocese’s “Agwa Peace Committee,” constituted by the archbishop, His Most Rev. Dr. Lucius Iwejuru, security agencies, and other concerned leaders and committees from Agwa to restore peace in the clan.
It is an aberration that a clan with so much potential lurks horns in contradictory and antithetical directions instead of harnessing its resources for even development. All over the world, violence has remained a reflection of anti-humanity and anti-development. It is an ugly wind that blows no one good, hence the need for all parties to sheath their swords and embrace dialogue and peace.
On the other hand, IAN pleads with the State Governor, Hope Uzodimma, the Commissioner of Imo State Police Command, CP, Aboki, the Director of DSS, Imo State Command, Dr. Idaminabo Wilcox, and other relevant security agencies to ensure the speedy deployment of security officers in Agwa Police Divisional Headquarters to secure the people of the clan in order to restore the confidence of the people who are now overcome with panic and various spines of life’s uncertainty because of these gruesome murders that took place.
We appeal to everyone to be law-abiding, love peace, and shun violence.
