
Yesterday the 11th day of July 2024, The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) Vice President, Special Duties was at Alvan Ikoku Federal University of Education which marks a significant moment for the institution and its student community. This visit highlights the ongoing commitment of NANS to foster development, recognize outstanding leadership, and forge strategic partnerships that benefit the student body and the broader comrade community.
The Vice President’s visit to Alvan Ikoku Federal University of Education was a momentous movement, demonstrating NANS’ dedication to engaging with educational institutions across Nigeria. However, the purpose of the visit can’t be overemphasized as it was multifaceted, encompassing an evaluation of the university’s progress, recognition of outstanding leadership, and the establishment of collaborative initiatives to enhance the student experience.
The VP in his statement commended the Acting Deputy Vice- Chancellor Prof Mrs Stella for her developmental strides. He however noted that the Acting DVC has been instrumental in driving significant improvements within the university, fostering an environment conducive to academic excellence and holistic student development. Her initiatives have spanned infrastructure development, academic program enhancement, and the promotion of a vibrant campus culture.
The NANS Vice President, in his address, continued to praised the Acting DVC for her visionary leadership and dedication to the growth of the university. These commendation serves as a formal recognition of her efforts and achievements, motivating further progress and inspiring other leaders within the academic community.
The VP also extended hands of Partnership which was the crucial aspect of the visit, in which he called on the university to embrace, underscoring the importance of collaborative efforts in advancing the interests of Nigerian students and the comrade community. This partnership aims to create opportunities for student engagement, capacity building, and the promotion of academic and extracurricular excellence noting that NANS isn’t just for thug of war between school management and the students rather NANS also drums support to performing managements who has the students interest at heart.
The proposed partnership encompasses various dimensions, including:
Student Development Programs: Joint initiatives to provide leadership training, career development workshops, and other programs that equip students with essential skills for their future endeavors.
Advocacy and Representation: Strengthening the voice of students in institutional decision-making processes and ensuring their interests are adequately represented.

Community Engagement: Encouraging students to participate in community service and outreach programs, fostering a sense of social responsibility and civic engagement.
AWARD of best performing Vice-Chancellor in Imo State was conferred on the Ag, DVC in recognition of her exceptional performance and contributions to the university, This prestigious award acknowledges her unwavering commitment to academic excellence, infrastructure development, and student welfare.
The criteria for this award included:
