Impressed by his superlative performance as a lawmaker, within the past one year of his inauguration as the Member Representing Mbaitoli State Constituency in the Imo State House Of Assembly, and his commendable contributions to the growth of several Government Agencies he had earlier headed, friends, political associates, businessmen and constituents, including those he empowered etc, came together to honour Hon Engr Sir Innocent Ikechukwu Ikpamezie, as he marked his 45th birthday.
Saturday, 15th June 2024 will therefore remain indelible in the minds and hearts of residents in Owerri, the Imo State capital, as it literally stood still for the vibrant lawmaker, who like the Iroko tree, stands tall in legislative activism, judging from the number of people oriented Bills and Motions he sponsored and co-sponsored within the last one year, including bringing peace to troubled communities in his State Constituency, Mbaitoli.
The venue for the birthday party, DELICIOUS TREAT LOUNGE AND BAR, located at No. 46 Umez Eronini in Ikenegbu layout was adorned with splendor and joyous celebrations as it became a carnival.
The event was a referendum on Hon Innocent Ikpamezie’s relationship with people, as dignitaries from all walks of life, both on the vertical dimension and on the horizontal dimension, graced the occasion, which added colour to the grandeur of the celebration.
Leading the pack on the vertical dimension was his primary constituency, the Imo State House Of Assembly, which came with two legs. While the Majority Leader of the Assembly and Member Representing Owerri-west State Constituency, Rt Honourable Kanayo Onyemaechi led one of the legs, with other Distinguished Honourable Members on the entourage, the Clerk And Administrative Head Of the Assembly, Chinelo Adaora Emeghara, Esq, led the second leg, with almost all the Administrative Staff, to grace the memorable occasion. The Honourable Members on the entourage included :
- Rt Hon Chigozie Nwaneri, who is the Chief Whip (Oru East).
- Hon Dr Henry Agbasonu, the Deputy Chief Whip (Ezinihitte Mbaise).
- Hon Princewill Ugochukwu Amuchie, Minority Leader (Aboh Mbaise).
- Rt Hon Clinton Amadi (Alaomajijiji), Deputy Minority Leader (Owerri Municipal).
- Hon Dr Barrister Ikenna Ihezuo (Orlu).
- Hon Kelechi Ofurum (Owerri North).
- Hon Engr Bernard Ozoemelam (Ehime Mbano).
- Rt Hon Engr Johnson Iheonukara Duru (Ideato South).
- Rt Hon Engr Francis Uche Agabige (Orsu).
- Hon Barrister Emeka Kingsley Ozurumba (Isu).
Their presence underscored the significance of the event and the esteem in which the Celebeant, Hon Engr Innocent Ikpamezie, is held in the legislative Arm Of Government.
On the Horizontal dimension, was his first Constituency, Mbaitoli local Government Area, which also came with two legs. While the Sole Administrator, Hon Ifunanya Nwanegwo led one leg, with his very large entourage, Hon Chief Barrister Marcon Okechukwu Nlemigbo, Prof Cona Chinedu Asinu-Anosike, Prince Kelechi Ngumezi, Chief Kingsley Egbonine, Barrister Ikechukwu Nkwopara, Hon Prince Baba Ali Ezewuihe, etc, led the second leg, with their very large entourages.
Further adding prestige to the event, was the presence of the Staff of Owerri Capital Development Authority, OCDA, a State Government Agency where Hon Innocent Ikpamezie meritoriously served as General Manager before being elected as a lawmaker.
Also, the New Commissioner, Dr Mandela Emeka Ukaegbu, Dr Mrs Rose Okpara (Former Special Adviser on College of Education), Barrister Chukwuma jnr, Chief Of Staff to the Deputy Governor, and their encourages added colour to the ceremony.
Many Civil Servants at the Imo State Secretariat also graced the occasion. They were led by Chief Ndubueze Okonkwo (Big ND), a senior staff of the Ministry Of Tourism, Hospitality And Culture.
The Business community was led by the Chairman of the Table Waters Association, Engr Lumanze Gisuark, while the Press was led by Veteran Journalist, Chief Everest Ezihe.
The highlight of the event was the cutting of the Cake by the celebrant, Hon Engr Innocent Ikpamezie, assisted by his wife (Lady Lynda Ikpamezie), Hon Chigozie Nwaneri, Chinelo Adaora Emeghara Esq, Hon Ifunanya Nwanegwo, etc.
Food and drinks were served in surplus quantity, and as the festivities continued well into the night, dancing ( to music supplied from a live Band, Chuks And The Stages Band and others on stage ) took the center stage, which was evident that Hon Engr Innocent Ikpamezie, whose Chieftaincy Title is Nwachinemere , is indeed, a reflection of God’s Grace, God’s Affection And God’s Glory. No wonder the vibrant lawmaker, who is also the House Committee Chairman On Environment in the Imo State House Of Assembly, has continued to stand tall, not only in legislative activism, but also in selfless service to humanity and in tirelessly advocating for the rights and interests of the less privileged in the society.
