For any lawmaker who loves his people, and is selfless, with a determined desire and mission to better his environment, there is no disparity in the pattern or module of his provision of basic projects and distribution of basic amenities, like construction of toilet facilities in schools and markets, drinking water, empowerment programmes for youths and widows, academic sponsorship, provision of electricity, healthcare delivery, etc.Apart from making laws, appropriation and oversight functions (through constituted standing committees), the provision of these basic amenities, in the name of constituency projects, are the determinants of effective, efficient and robust representation.For a Ranking lawmaker like Rt Hon Engr Johnson Iheonukara Duru, the Member Representing Ideato-South State Constituency, in the Imo State House Of Assembly, he has lived up to expectation, and has constantly given a good account of worthy representation to his people.It was therefore Joy Unspeakable as Men and Women, Children, etc, in Isiekenesi, Ideato-South local government area of Imo State trooped out enmass, in an uncontrollable atmosphere of jubilation and celebration to welcome their noble son and leader, Hon Engr Johnson Iheonukara Duru (Pajay), as he officially flagged off the Aforukwu Isiekenesi Solar-Power Borehole, which he installed, and the construction of toilets in their market area, which he built, to enhance cleanliness.The importance of water cannot be overemphasized. Nevertheless, we all know that water is life, and its provision is, no doubt, the most vital aspect of human life, as people, from all segments, depend on water for survival, vis-a-vis, cooking, drinking, washing and many numerous other domestic needs. Water is indeed life.In his speech, during the flag off, Hon Johnson, who is the House Committee Chairman On Religion, Pilgrimage, Ethics And Privileges, a man of humility and immaculate morals whose penchant for attracting development and socioeconomic growth to Ideato-South has remained unbeaten, vis-a-vis, scholarship programmes, Free JAMB registrations, WAEC registrations, Oganihu House Projects, Grading of roads, and now the Water Project and Ultramodern Toilet facilities, has this to say, “………….. Provision of portable water to local communities and for environmental sanitation is very essential and cannot be over-flogged. Many rural communities have issues with access to adequate and clean water. Water is a basic need, and I know what you are going through, hence I decided to put a stop to it, and invest in the solar water borehole project, so as to lessen your burden. I am aware you trek long distances to the stream to fetch water, that is even not clean. I weep each time I get the report that you have continued to drink water from the stream, which is not even treated. And I cried unto Almighty God to provide the needed seed capital for me to embark on this water project. To the Glory of God, it is today a reality. It will serve several purposes : for drinking, cooking, washing and many numerous other domestic needs, including being connected to the ultramodern toilet at the market, so that once you use the toilet, you flush, for cleanliness. ……. I therefore Flag off these projects, in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost, Amen”.
Hon Johnson Duru, who is also a Member of the House Committee On Commerce And Industry, while extolling his constituents for the warm reception and support, further assured that he would bring more people-oriented projects to Ideato-South local government and there will be no disparity in the pattern of its distribution. Bunch of encomium and resounding ovations were showered on Hon Johnson Duru, Aka Pajay (who is the Vice-chairman of House Committee On Culture, Tourism And Creative Arts), for the gigantic developmental projects he brought to Isiekenesi community and Ideato-South, in general.To God Be All The Glory.
